Morgan of course draws the attention of everyone she walks by. But for some reason the most noticeable group of people lately that come up to her has been old men. And we are not just talking grandpa like men...we are talking about the shriveled up crazy men that probably haven't showered in awhile. (you can imagine how mommy reacts to this as well...my motherly instincts have sharpened as I try and keep her away from them).
However, our most recent encounter was yesterday (3-28-09) as we were walking around one of the shopping areas in Seoul. We were just minding our own business deep in some conversation about world peace when out of nowhere some crazy old man had stopped to say something to Morgan. As we walked by him he opened his mouth as if to talk, but instead of a friendly greeting something came shooting out of his mouth as if to attack us! Since I was the closest to the man I immediately jump into Nate (Morgan thank goodness was in the stroller this time) and we scurried away as fast as we could to escape the attack without causing a scene. Once a safe distance away we were able to asses the situation and realized it was his tooth that was the attacker! It had come out when he opened his mouth to talk to us! However, it brings us little comfort knowing it was a tooth and still feel violated and haunted by the memory of the projectile coming out of his mouth!
On the lighter side of that evening, as we walked out of a restaurant for dinner there was a group of men standing by a beverage machine that dispenses coffee. These men were cleaner cut thank goodness and of course gave their greetings to Morgan. With their coffee in hand they approached Morgan and proceeded to ah and oooo over her and ask her questions in Korean that obviously Morgan wasn't going to understand. As if to reply to them and the situation Morgan bluntly says "Yucky, Mommy, yucky." I immediately turn my head to hide my laugh hoping also not to offend them. They of course had no idea what Morgan was saying and continued to oooo and ahh over her. Let's just say older, coffee drinking men are not high on her list. Thank Goodness!!

That's Our Girl!
Morgan loves to sing and dance. There isn't a minute of the day that goes by that she isn't singing some song. (taxi, while playing with her toys, going for walks...you name it).
We decided to take advantage of this and record it and share some of it with you.
Enjoy :)

Don't Quit Your Day Job!
One of the great things about Nate knowing Korean is that he can get us places that not many foreigners go or know about.
We've been able to go to a sticker/photo store where we were able to dress up and take our picture. Morgan LOVED it. Every time she looks at the pictures she does this really crazy laugh (very contagious too...you can NOT not laugh when she does it).
They have about 6 little booths and you can grab as many props as you want and have at it. Morgan keeps telling us we need to do more pictures.

Nate has also taken us to a noare bang (good luck pronouncing THAT one) but loosly translated it is Karaoke. We had our own little room...and as soon as Morgan figured out that it was us (or HER) making the nice echo sound in the microphone she took off with dancing and singing you wouldn't believe!! I also was able to make a nice tribute to two of my brothers (that for reputational reasons I will not be posting)...however, it was for them my BEST imitation of their favorite band and one of their most popular songs!!! I think that band would like me and perhaps give me a career as their lead singer eh? Then maybe they could come up with better songs other than songs about the song itself!!!!

We were also able to take a river walk lighted up by some lights flashing on the walls. You can cross the river over some large rocks they have placed along the river. It was quite pretty. Although, Morgan seemed just a little nervous as all she'd say was "don't drop Morgan in water!!"

A view from our hotel window. This is my "Korean" mountain (most of you will understand).

A Saturday in Seoul
We've been able to do quite a bit around here...of course when you have someone who speaks the language it is easier to go out and do whatever you want...
A few weeks ago we went shopping for pants for me (yeah mom...can you believe we actually found something too?) It's quite the experience. they put you inside a little shower curtain in the corner that only goes up to your head and that is where you try things on. You have to remember that a shower curtain isn't very big and being pregnant you need just a LITTLE bit of room to move around needless to say bending over and putting pants on...so I don't know who all got a show but I don't think seeing a pregnant woman like that would be very attractive. You also have to remember most Koreans are a little shorter than me...so finding pants the length I like is also quite the task. After that we went back to Old Navy on line though.
We did have help from the Ahn's. (the Korean family that Nate knew from his mission). They have taken Morgan and I under their wings as well. Morgan now has 3 Grandma's and Sister Ahn spoils her just as much. Morgan loves Sister Ahn but even more she loves her daughter So-Hyun (or as Morgan calls her "Ohnee" pernounced Oh knee meaning older sister). She is our Korean Amanda over here. They also came over to our hotel this last Saturday and watched Morgan while Nate and I went to the temple. They love her and of course just ate up everything Morgan said or did.
I will say that I never thought I'd be on to take the temple for granted. But walking up the hill and seeing the angel Moroni appear above the roof tops is one sight I don't think I'll ever forget here. Being in a foregin country and seeing the familiarity of the temple and going inside and seeing the same pictures of Christ from the Denver Temple just gave such a comforting feeling of being home (if that makes sense). And of course everyone there speaks the same language if you know what I mean. Even if it's Korean to English the feeling of mockery of not being able to understand them was never there. It definitly made me want to go back. Soon. and more often. We were also able to do baptisms which was great since I hadn't done those since I was in Young Womens!! Good times.
We do have pictures but like I said...on my phone. (we are trying to remember the camera more often!)

Here Fishy, Fishy!!
The last weekend in February, Nate took us to Coex Mall. He SAYS that this is one of the largest malls in the world...I guess it was pretty big. (ok so he just made me look it up and according to the internet it is the largest "underground" mall in Asia (we didn't know it was underground) supposidly 85,000 square meters. So I guess it is smaller than what Nate REALLY thought :) Inside they have an aquarium which is the reason for us going to this specific mall. It was a good size place too. It was fun to see Morgan get so excited about the fish. It was even more fun to see daddy and Morgan running around together, mommy is just getting slower these days :)
It was even more interesting what people would take pictures of while in the aquarium. Just in case none of you believe how many people stop to take pictures of Morgan, we took a picture of them taking pictures of Morgan...however...they are on my phone and we have yet to figure out how to get them down loaded onto the computer so if any of you know how if you could let us know that would be great...also if you know how to read Korean on a cell phone that would also help.
Morgan's biggest interst at the aquarium amazingly enough, were the penguins. (at the library for story time a couple of weeks ago we read stories of penguins and made a picture and walked around like them.)
After the aquarium we went out to dinner at the Outback where we got the first "Morgan" discount. We got free sodas because she was so cute. (I hope she can continue to pull that off the older she gets!)
As we walked out, we noticed people walking by awfully fast. Looking in the direction from where they came there was a group of protesters coming. (here they call them demonstrations). We of course started walking fast as well and tried to continue to walk in the opposite direction. However, EVERY Saturday here is demonstration day so they are all over and Koreans all seem to be used to it. Everyone is standing at a light ready to cross casually while on their dates and in their high heels while we were thinking we should be running cause the police are pushing people back with their big shields right next to us. I don't think I've ever held on to Morgan as tight as I did then.
