The Amusement Park

A few weeks ago, Nate took us to an indoor amusement park. (half of it was indoors the other half was outside). Not really thinking, we saw some of the rides through a window and thought Morgan and I could ride most of them. Morgan unfortunately was not wearing her "tall" shoes and missed the mark by just a couple of inches and as soon as they saw that I was pregnant they turned me down as well (we are talking about simple boat rides here not big roller coasters--we're not dumb). After seeing daddy go on the big drop ride (like tower of doom at Elitch's) Morgan tried to slip through the gate and ride it with the "big" kids. Which was pretty funny when some of the people in line were scared to death. So needless to say, we were a little disapointed to find there wasn't too much for Morgan to do. However, as we were leaving we saw a kids version of the same ride. Mommy, being the wonderful mother that I am :), convinced daddy to stay a little longer and take Morgan on the ride. She BARELY met the height requirment and they let her on the ride. I am all for letting her try new things and this was something she saw daddy do and wanted to try for herself. As you can tell from the picture she LOVED the ride and couldn't stop laughing and smiling. After finally finding something "big" for her to do I told daddy we should let her go on it again. (Even though we had dinner plans and had to be somewhere). However, it made us both feel better about spending the money that we did. You know it is interesting after becoming a mom, I have found that my days are more fun and exciting when I see Morgan happy and having a good time.

Morgan got to "drive" a car around a track. She really likes thinking she's in control of that car!

They Call it as They See It...

I'm trying to keep up with Morgan and the cute/funny things she says...this just happened today.

Since we don't have much longer in the hotel I've been trying to take advantage of the swimming pool here. So this morning we went downstairs to the pool and had a fun time in the pool. We decided to leave and just to make it easy I wrap Morgan up in a towel and carry her so I don't have to bother with shoes etc...so imagine an eight month pregnant woman with a 2 year old in one hand and a bag and floaty device in the other. To exit the pool you have to go through a hot/cold bath room followed by a small locker room that is not your typical locker room. Just a small room with towels and a counter with a mirror kinda thing. Well...as I opened the door to go in the first room I noticed a completely naked woman and her naked child walking through the room heading toward the locker room...no towels in hand, nothing. Shocked, I quickly closed the door and said without thinking "they're naked". Trying to be polite I thought I'd wait a second so they could get towels on before entering so as to not embarrass them. When I opened the door and went in they were still walking around naked so I tried to quickly walk through the 2 rooms without too much attention. However, my 2 year old daughter had something else in mind. Morgan opens her mouth and very clearly and just as loud says "Naked, mommy. Naked!" (now those of you with small children know that little kids will repeat something until they get a response and they never just say something they have to point as well) So with my hands completely full, I waddle as fast as I can trying to grab her hand so she's not pointing while quietly shushing. As if repeating the fact that they were naked wasn't enough, Morgan must have thought that we all didn't hear her or understand her. So even more clearly states "NO CLOTHES, Mommy!"
I finally made it out into the hall way and breathed a sigh and some chuckles. Thinking we were safe from embarrassment now we proceeded to the elevator. (now the elevator that is easiest is one that is less traveled through a door by the exit staircase and more commonly used for the staff) While waiting for the elevator a gentleman employee walked through the door pushing some cart obviously needing to use the elevator as well. He recognized Morgan and even called her by name and asked how she was doing. We told him we went swimming which I figured would explain the wet hair and towels wrapped around us. Morgan, the sweet girl that she is, doesn't want to leave anyone out and started telling the man "naked!" I wasn't about to explain to him the whole thing so at first I brushed it aside as if I didn't understand her. But of course she kept repeating it to make sure we all understood. I looked down to make sure that I didn't look like I was naked with the towel on and tried to think of what to say to make this less awkward than it was for me and this gentleman. I then quickly said "blanket? no Morgan it's a towel." to which the man said "it's good you understand." However, I think he did understand because when the elevator arrived he turned and walked back out the door!
