Japan and Jeju

So since we still haven't left Korea and they keep pushing back our date...we keep going on vacations :)
We went to Japan in June. We decided to go to a beach area of Japan and see some touristy things...but honestly you can't get a great beach AND be able to see the main attractions. The beach wasn't great at all. TONS of seaweed (which would explain the sushi in Japan right :)
But really gross to swim in. YUCK!

Of course you can still find fun things to do at the beach.

This is Japan. (at least the part we saw.) we ended up going to Okinawa. Which I think if we did it again to just go to Tokyo. But this was near a military base so we thought we'd be safe if we needed anything "American".
We went on a Ferris wheel :)

And of course ate at a sushi bar...which was amazing!! We ended up eating there a couple of times. (I don't remember how we all got so sunburned!)

In our hotel on our way to breakfast every morning we'd walk past this giant window cage where 2 monkeys and a large turtle lived. We loved watching the monkeys run up and down the ropes and logs and to see where the turtle got to for the day. Caden and Morgan of course loved it!!

We went to a few palaces.

We went to a Japanese village which ended up being a lot of fun. We got to dress the kids up. Caden wasn't too happy with this arrangement though.

We even got to paint!

Part of their performance they have this guy whistle really loud while others beat drums and dance.
This dragon dog walked up to everyone in the front row. Which is where Morgan and I happened to be. She saw it coming closer and immediately went to daddy standing up behind us. So I had Caden and this dog (of course it's just a costume but to a kid it's a little more realistic) came up to Caden and he just touched it and laughed. It even came back to Caden in the middle of their little performance and played with him a little. He just loved it!

I believe this is their king and queen (at least at this little village festival)

Jeju
On our way out of Korea we took a little side tour to a little island off the mainland of Korea. We spent the whole first day in the airport. It's so foggy in Jeju that a lot of planes can't fly there. It was a long day!
We finally made it though.

The beach at our hotel. We even couldn't swim sometimes because of how foggy it got.

A sign at the beach.

We went to a live maze! It was really neat. We ended up going through 3 or 4 times. The first all of us. The 2nd either we all went to see how fast we could do it or it was just us girls and then Nate by himself. I wish I could remember the times. I know the first time took like half an hour. But Morgan and I took 8 min or so. Nate of course was like 5.

You had to get to the bell. But you could use some stairways to see where to go.

One of the things Jeju is known for is all the walls they build out of rocks. This picture hardly does it justice.
We went to some famous waterfall.

Saw a show with seals and dolphins.

Went to a dinosaur park.
Morgan got to ride a pony :)
It was a fun little trip. Nice to see a different part of Korea. But now...we are heading home.
